one day project donated to a silent auction for the master gardener association. modeled after a traditional shaker bench form.
this finish is a thinned milk paint wash covered with several coats of oil finish. a custom ordered bench could be finished with a choice of milk paint colors or made from a wide selection of wood and finished naturally.
traditionally, benches of this type would have been made custom lengths determined by need and the size of the space it would be occupying. depending on the type of wood, legs would be spaced every four to six feet along the span.
wedged through mortise and tenon joints make this simple, lightweight bench incredibly durable.
