joel wakeman was born in 1983 in canton, ohio. he graduated from the rhode island school of design in 2006 with a bfa in industrial design. he also received a heartfelt, though entirely unofficial, honorary degree in furniture design conferred upon him by several members of the furniture department. since then, by way of numerous tangential paths, through several small woodworking shops and construction businesses, and with adventure leading his steps, joel has endeavored to begin his own humble furniture workshop.
he is lovingly and faithfully assisted in every aspect and step of design and construction by his lovely wife, miranda, who is extraordinary in more ways than can be counted here.
